To All My Extended Family:

This is an important moment in the history of our country and I need to ask you to do me a favor.  Would you take a few moments to review the material enclosed and act according to your conscience.

You may never have been interested in politics or thought your input would have any effect.  And you would have been right in the past.  But today, with so many Americans concerned about the cliff toward which their government is headed, with this Iraq disaster and the threat of attack on Iran, there is an urgent need for a change in direction.  This is the time to ride the momentum of this wave to its greatest effect - and add your voice for peaceful change. 

The Congress has so far proven incapable of making this change, despite the mandate given them in the last election - to bring our troops home and begin the peace process.  A small group of us have started a petition drive and put up a website with all the tools to carry this through.  www.WeThePeopleForPeace.org

We are asking our two US Senators and one US Representative to please vote this month to bring our forces home on a near-term timeline, and provide only sufficient funding to do this, or to step-aside and allow us to elect someone else who will.   They are in a very difficult yet responsible position, and we want to let them know they have our permission to get out of the kitchen if they find it too hot.

This is not about party loyalty.  This is about what is right, for our country and the entire world, which has been appalled at our behavior in this Iraq endeavor.  We are all heirs of the founders of this Republic.  Can we act as they would have acted, before it's too late?  It will only take a few hours of your time to sign these petitions and find nine like-minded patriots to do the same, and then mail them in to your representatives in DC.  You will be joining people all over this great country in support of peace.

Our petitions are based on the vote in May this year to continue funding for the war.  If our representative voted against this funding, we have a 'Thank You' petition.  You will find both samples enclosed.  You will need one for each of your two US Senators and one for your US Representative, selected according to how they voted in May, which you can look up on the website above.   Please ask any of your friends so inclined to join you in signing and starting their own petitions.   www.WeThePeopleForPeace.org  My email is
